[a] – Tubing is considered to comply with the optional Oil Resistance requirements only if authorized in the above table and marked “Oil Resistant” (or “Oil Res”), followed by the class (01, 02 or 03).
[b] – Tubing is considered to comply with the optional VW-1 flammability requirements only if authorized in the above table and if so marked.
Marking: Company name, catalog designation, inside diameter (before and after recovery for heat-shrinkable tubing), voltage rating, temperature rating in degrees Celsius and date of manufacture (or traceable code) printed on tags attached to both ends of the tubing or printed on the shipping spool label or smallest unit container in which the product is packaged.
UL 94
The UL 94 standard distinguishes between UL 94 HB (horizontal burning test) and UL 94 VB (vertical burning test). HB means that the test specimen is clamped horizontally for the flammability test.
In the vertical burning test, the specimen is clamped at its upper end and a flame is applied to its lower end twice for 10 seconds. This results in the following classes:
| Class | Max. afterflame time of both flame applications combined | Max. afterflame time of all specimens and flame applications | Max. afterglow time | Dripping of burning material |
| UL 94 V-0 | 10 | 50 | 30 | not permitted |
| UL 94 V-1 | 30 | 250 | 60 | not permitted |
| UL 94 V-2 | 30 | 250 | 60 | permitted |
Many of our tubes, cable ties and other products are made of plastics that are classified according to UL 94.
